The Practice 2×15 “Line of Duty”

April 15th, 2008 · No Comments

If the first new (season two shot) episode of “The Practice” after the conclusion of the burners, which redeemed the show, doesn’t put it right back in the crapper, I don’t know what would. Kelley goes all out here, going as exploitative as he possibly can–Bobby Donnell, on trial for murder… because he’s a defense attorney. Yadda yadda yadda.

What’s so funny about the show, which I’m sure is meant to raise issues, is how black and white Kelley makes it all. Even though Bobby’s torn up, well, the DA’s out to get him, not for this case, but for all the cases the firm has been winning. Yes, there’s even a scene with the firm sitting around discussing how the DA and all the corporate lawyers are out to get them.

There’s also a lot of Bobby and Lara Flynn Boyle and the chemistry is non-existant. And I’m not sure why Bobby wears such nice suits this season.

Jimmy and Ellenor actually have a case too–it’s hard to remember–but it ties in to the burners, which would have been a distant memory if the show had aired in order.

It’s a bad forty-five minutes of television and the only surprise is Kelley didn’t drag it out over four or five more.
